A little more about Mariana
Mariana was first introduced to tango at the age of 16 in her native Rosario. Later, upon moving to Buenos Aires, she continued her studies with Maestros Graciela Gonzalez, Mingo Pugliese, and Tete. She has since partnered with some of the biggest names of the tango world including El Indio Pedro Benavente, the late Hernan Obispo, Chicho Frumboli, Miguel Angel Zotto, Pablo Inza, and Gaston Torelli.
A wonderfully warm and friendly teacher who speaks English and French fluently, Mariana’s classes are always popular. Mariana has taught numerous workshops in Montreal, coming here about every two years since 2000. She is adored by the community here and it is with great pleasure that we welcome her for her 11th workshop at the Studio.
Mariana co-owns and manages ''La Maleva'', a hotel in Buenos Aires that specializes in hosting tango tourists as well as organizing world-class classes/practices with some of Buenos Aires’ finest teachers.
About Tomás
Tomás Howlin is a professional Argentine Tango dancer, performer, and teacher with over 25 years of experience. Born and brought up in Buenos Aires, Tomás approached tango at a time when it was slowly resurging after a long rest following the Golden Age of Tango. He had the privilege to study with and assist some of the legendary teachers of tango, some of whom are no longer with us today. His most influential teachers were Ernesto Pupi Castello, Jose Brahemcha, Gustavo Naveira, Graciela Gonzalez, and Pepe Avellaneda.
One of the most popular contemporary teachers and performers in North America today, Tomás has created a bridge linking traditional tango with the newer tendencies. He has consistently intrigued audiences and students with the breadth and depth of his tango knowledge making him a popular and successful tango dancer and pedagogue. Tomás teaches regularly at Studio Tango Montreal and continues to teach at festivals and workshops internationally.
One of our all-time favourite instructors, this workshop will be Mariana’s 13th at the studio!
